Since when does an artist own a style? Seriously. Can you trademark and copyright them now? Can you sue someone because...oh mygosh...their elbows look just like how I draw my elbows! BASTARDS! They should be hung, and then shot fifty times, and then the remains of their carcasses should be fed to dogs because they're filthy mother fucking baby killing shit eating art thieves who like to copy peoples styles OH THE HUMANITY!
But honestly. This is pissing me off, all these people moaning because people are 'copying their style' Especially when said persons style looks very borrowed from another famous person's style. You never hear the folks at Disney screaming and crying and saying "Oh, all these awful people, they're all copying my style, they're so horrible, why don't they stop hurting me like this?"
Or maybe I don't care about this because I am not 'talented' like other people. And because I don't really have a set style. Some drawings, I will draw things a little differently than on other drawings. I guess that makes me a filthy thief because I'm stealing from someone else oh no.
In short...copying someone's style does not equal art thievery. It's a more of a form of FLATTERY. By imitiating, they are pretty much saying "HEY YOU FRIGGIN ROCK I LOVE YOU WITH TEN THOUSAND MOON BEAMS AND A PANDA BEAR"
Anyway, after copying for a while, they'll start to find their own style and move on. It's not a big friggin deal. EVERYONE starts off copying a style that they like, and eventually they start to come up with their own style along the way. So shut up. GAWD.
Also, this just in: Apparantly I'm not leaving Sheezy. How lame am I? *shakes fist at Tupperware ad*
your work is really good. i'd love to do an art trade with you sometime in the future. but not right now since you're bogged and i've fallen into a drawing block.
